This is exactly what I needed. I've been in a reading rut due to a hard couple weeks of life. After struggling to finish a really good mystery, I picked this up because it was short and I like Becky Wade's books.Wade writes a story that is encouraging and romantic without being sappy and overdone. She weaves together real life dilemmas and personable characters while driving across the themes of second chances and God's timing. Even though it is a novella, I connected with the characters and their best friends. I never felt like I was cheated out of a full length novel.
Becky Wade keeps proving why she is one of the few romance authors I read. If you haven't read any of her work, this is a great start.

I LOVE Becky Wade, but I'm sure that this shorter format was difficult to write. There were moments in the story where we were being told what happened rather than being shown. Her heroes are usually super charming and adorable, but this guy was a little too stiff. I loved Holly's sweet demeanor, and I enjoyed the witty remarks from her friend Sam (and I LOVED the interactions between Holly and her elderly neighbor--would have enjoyed more of those thrown in). The break-up back story was a little hard to believe (and I had trouble forgiving the mother, which was what we were supposed to do). Overall, it was a sweet story with a happy ending, but I have a feeling she would have liked to expand this into a full novel.
"It had been as simple and fast and as inexplicable as that. He'd loved her."
Josh Bowen and Holly Morgan had been the kind of high school sweethearts that shared a forever kind of love. Or at least, Josh thought that they had. Brilliant and talented, Josh departed from his hometown of Martinsville, Texas to attend the prestigious MIT University, having earned multiple scholarship, but his good fortune abruptly changed following an unexplainable phone call from Molly. Quite providentially, he and Molly have been reunited in their hometown eight years later due to a mutual friend's wedding, and the renowned billionaire realizes that there are still things in life that money cannot buy. What exactly happened eight years ago and will Holly's heart be open to a future love when the details of their past finally come to light?
A nicely written story of "lost and found" love.
This is a lovely story. Not too sappy and not too sour. I smiled a lot at Josh and Holly. Her character was captured in her interactions with others, but little details of life as a single woman were not overlooked. Loved the relief she felt in having her house clear of embarrassing unmentionables when Josh came by unexpected. So true. Both Holly and Josh demonstrated growth, self-awareness , a degree of maturity, and faith. I loved their display of old-fashioned qualities like honor, caring, and respect for elders. Why is this important? Because the evidence of those values allowed me to enjoy the story without becoming frustrated by typical romance novel stupidity or arrogance. Both Josh and Holly recognized their fears , and chose to push past them. Bravo. Well done. I really enjoyed reading this.
Holly and Josh were high school sweethearts. It was hard for them to be apart when he went to MIT and she stayed in Texas for college. So hard that Josh considered quitting school to return to Holly. When his tearful mom asked Holly to break up with Josh so that he could stay at MIT and realize his potential, Holly agreed that would be best for Josh. Without telling him the real reason, she called and broke up with him. She never spoke or corresponded with him again. Now, eight years later, he is back in their hometown in Texas for his best friend's wedding, spending a month there in support of Ben. They meet on the street and Josh comes up with a plan to have Holly help him find a rehearsal dinner venue. They spend time together, each trying to deny to themselves that there is still feeling remaining. Time is running out and it will soon be time for Josh to return to Paris and his billion dollar tech company. Will they be able to admit their feelings and do something about it? Once again, Becky Wade has given us characters that seem real and a very satisfying love story. If you want a good love story, you won't go wrong with any of Becky Wade's books, whether it's a short novella like this or a full length novel.
Holly Morgan loved Josh Bowen more than life itself but ended things with him so he could be free to pursue a successful future. Now he's back in Martinsburg, Texas, to be best man at his friend’s wedding. The wedding is to take place at the church where Holly is the wedding coordinator. Working together to create a beautiful wedding for their friends has caused long denied feelings to stir. Josh is afraid to open his heart to Holly again after being hurt. Holly’s never shared with him the reason she broke it off. Now she’s trying to decide whether to tell Josh why or let things be. Over the years their thoughts have been only for each other. Will Holly tell Josh the truth about why she broke up with him and will Josh risk his heart once again to see if they can forge a future together?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and once you read it, you will see the title works perfectly. I must say that though this is a novella it really didn't read like one. I felt fully satisfied from beginning to end. I loved getting to know Josh and Holly. You could feel the pull between them, which I always enjoy. I loved how they interacted with each other. I actually enjoyed all the characters and felt they were well fleshed out for such a short story. This author has an easy writing style that pulls you into the story and holds your attention all the way through. As I was reading, I was thinking about the verse that says God works all things together for good. It was a good reminder to this reader. If you're looking for a quick romantic fix with two lovable characters, then I would definitely recommend Love in the Details.
