Thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the new characters Buroker has added, many of whom have been referred to in the earlier volumes. Glad Lindsay Buroker has chosen to extend her series.

Am sorry to say that we did lose one beloved character, Books, and another character, with great potential, Retta, who I'd hoped would join the "0utlaw/rebel/revolutionary" team. I keep hoping that there will be a way to bring them back, but it's doubtful.

In my review of the first 3 books of this series, that I purchased together as a trilogy, I suggested that young adults would enjoy the series and get hooked on reading. I may have spoken too soon.

I started reading quite young, while living in a foreign country, in which English language books for children were hard to find. So I was reading adult level books as early as ages 9 or 10. In those days, however, adult books were more sedate than they are today.

As I've progressed through the series, I've realized that the content maturity level is likely a bit too advanced for the younger ages that I originally thought suitable. Each parent must decide based on their individual child's maturity and intelligence.

Happy reading you guys!!

Forged in Blood II The Emperor Edge Book 7 eBook Lindsay Buroker Reviews

So, Starcrest have arrived. You can predict a new arch just from this. Amaranthe's story is wrapping up. We have first horizontal meeting of A&S and spoiler alert! a loss of a team member. I can understand, partially, a need? for such development, but it made me so sad that I detracted 0.5 star for it. Otherwise, a perfect amount of action, romance, love, loss, character and story development. Great world, great story, great series!
I can't say it often enough-Lindsay Buroker's writing builds worlds that are more realistic and tangible than the one we live in! Her characters are deeply convincing and you will learn to care about each one as the adventures continue to come thick and fast. The Empire is a thing of the past in this book- and the brave band of bonded misfits has accomplished its mission - imperfect as the conclusion is. The death of one of the beloved members tugs surprising hard on your heartstrings, though there is true love blooming in several other relationships. Find yourself in a world that you will soon lose yourself in. Read all the books. Read all the series. You'll be glad you did.
Ameranthe, Sicarious and the team are surrounded by monsters both human and not. Vicarious is taken by a wizard and forced to do his bidding because he is implanted with a gem in his temple. He is forced to kill many and also go after Ameranthe. He tried desperately to fight off the wizards control but can not and even though trapped grabbed Ameranthe to finish her off.
One of the team perishes, Sespian tries to hold off soldiers and they kidnap some of the officers as well as a self proclaimed emperor.
Admiral Stancrest and his family arrive and help the team figure out a plan to get the imperial barracks back. I don't want to give away to much but at the end years did flow. I am so glad there is another book. I can't wait to read it.
This review is for all 8 books in the series. I hesitated to start it, as I am not generally a fan of fantasy. But I was glad I did, though it started out rather slowly for me, and picked up speed as I went along. The principal characters are very well developed, and the various story lines intriguing and reasonably complex. The series has echoes of Star Wars (without Yoda, Darth Vader or The Force), Star Trek (in its adventuring and a couple of the characters), and Little Shop of Horrors at one point. And too many others to mention, especially in the names of places and people. But it is unique in itself, and if you like strong female lead characters, as I do (I am male, by the way, and old), I think you will find many hours of reading pleasure in the world of Amaranthe and Secarius. I also felt Ms. Buroker ended the series at just the right point. Some authors who write a series cannot seem to end it, or to end it in a satisfying fashion. Ms. Buroker did not fall into that trap. Kudos to her for that and this series.
I'm currently blinking and attempting to re-orient myself to the real world after emerging from an immersive EE bender. For the past week and a half, I've totally gotten lost in this extremely addictive series, and at this point, I'm left to wonder, "What do I read now?"

This was the exact question that lead me to the Emperor's Edge series in the first place. I had previously read Lindsay Buroker's Dragon Blood series and loved the characters, the writing style, and the dialogue. While not-so-patiently waiting for the next installment of that series, I went looking for more of the same and dove headfirst into the EE series. Buroker has created a cast of characters to whom I've grown very attached. As soon as I finished one book, I was downloading the next, in what I can only describe as chain-reading.

The entire series was very well planned out, with all previous events leading up to and feeding into the finale in Forged in Blood II. The characters went all went through various degrees of believable development and I loved watching their relationships evolve. I would join in on any future adventures without hesitation. The plot always raced along at breakneck speed, even when it included some fantastical (but extremely FUN) plot points.

As the finale of the two-part finale, Forged in Blood II was chock full of incredibly intense, make-or-break situations. Without throwing in any plot spoilers, the book covers the evolution of several different kinds of relationships against the action-packed background. I will say that it was a relief to read the epilogue and get a well-deserved happy ending for two favorites.
